Clinical Study of the Accuracy of Handy-diag-EIA^(®) for the Diagnosis of Pregnancy

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical study has been carried out to compare the accuracy of Handy-diag-EIA with latex slide test using urine samples from 155 women at National Medical Center from March 1 to May 15, 1986.
The results were as follows:
1. Diagnosis of pregnancy was possible in 13 cases only by Handy-diag-EIA.
2. The result was positive :only by Handy-diag-EIA in 5 out of 14 cases. (35.7%) whose tests were done before the expected date of menstruation.
3. Results of radioimmunoassay were same as those of Handy-diag-EIA among the cases whose results were different between Handy-diag-EIA and latex slide test.
4. Handy-diag-EIA is superior to latex slide test in respect to specificity, sensitivity, positive and negative predictive value and accuracy.
5. Excellent results were obtained in performing comparison, reproducibility, and sensitivity tests by Handydiag-EIA.
6. The percent of sensitivity in 102 positive pregnancy subject is 100% in Handy-diag-EIA and 87% in latex slide test.
7. In the sensitivity test of Handy-diag-EIA it was obtained positive rate of 100% in standard sample containing 50 mIU/ml of hCG which reflects that pregnancy can be diagnosed in period of 3 days before the expected date of menstruation.
In conclusion, it might be said that Handy-diag-EIA is not only more excellent than other pregnancy test kits in the early diagnosis of pregnancy but also is almost comparable to radioimmunoassay.
